Stress Management

Stress is the body's way of reacting to a condition like a threat, challenge or physical and psychological barrier. It can affect peoples of all ages, gender and circumstances. In Ayurveda, there are several procedures explained for the relaxation of the mind and body By following them, the mind and body comes down to a relaxed state by reducing the mental stress and tension and thus helps in the normal and better functioning of the mind.

Shirodhara is one of the Ayurvedic treatment procedures of slowly and steadily dripping medicated oil or any other liquid on the forehead for stress management. It is known to have a direct impact on the nervous system. In Dhara therapy, prolonged and intermittent stimulation is employed by the dripping of oil. This procedure is believed to provide afferent inputs to the cerebral cortex, leading to a tranquilizing effect i.e., the treatment will directly and immediately calm, relaxes, and has a cleansing effect on both mind and nerves. Shirodhara has a soothing and exotic experience and is beneficial for people experiencing insomnia, anxiety, stress and fatigue. Abhyanga (massage) has preceded Shirodhara. Abhyanga means the application of oil to the skin followed by a massage in specific directions. Massaging in a specific direction improves blood circulation, facilitates removal of the toxins from the tissues, relieves physical and mental fatigue, improves the functioning of the musculoskeletal system & clears stiffness and heaviness of the body. It also assists in the improvement and development of a healthy body by recuperating the tissues and reducing the body weight. Abhyanga has a curative effect by the pharmacological action of the drugs used in the processing of the oil.
